So what am I up to this week, my loves? I think I've told you that my June was a little more medically interesting than I prefer for my family. Ever heard of costocondritus? I hadn't, but watching my partner struggle with it has been pretty awful. Thankfully he's on the mend, and I'm slowly hitting my stride again.
As I'm going over my to-do lists and figuring out what plans I made several months ago, the thing that keeps standing out to me is the book Building Temptation. This book was written almost as a joke to myself; if you recall, I broke my standing desk and was desperately trying to finance a new one. But when I was writing that book, I realized that I've been writing less and less short fiction and was leaning more and more into romantic stories, and I got badly overwhelmed. I figured I could turn the book into a trilogy, then wrote myself into a corner with Book 2, and just gave up. It wasn't my favorite time, and I'm not proud of it.
While I've been cleaning up the mess I made of early 2026, though, I found an almost-finished draft of what would be Book 2, Building Heat. I read through it and realized: this book doesn't need a third book. It's nearly done as it is.
So my goal is to get that finished and into your hands in the next few weeks. I'm also going to bundle up a few scattered stories and refresh a few things, and there's a new Temptations book to write...
All of that to say, I have a plan, and thank you as always for sticking with me through all my chaos gremlin days.
